Bullpen, by Autough · Charlottetown, PEI
The AI sales team that shows its receipts.
Bullpen finds companies that fit what you sell, researches each one, and writes one short, personal email per company, to an address that company publishes itself. Every fact is quoted word for word from a public web page, usually the company's own, with the link. You approve every email.
Free to try: 9 credits on us, no card. That's three companies researched, each with a checked email.
We built Bullpen from our own outreach. We're new, so there are no customer logos on this page. There's a receipt for every line instead.
Where your week goes
Writing a cold email is the quick part. The time goes to the work before it:
- finding companies that fit
- reading each one's website for a real reason to write
- finding an address the company actually publishes
A BDR we interviewed puts his own research at 10 to 20 minutes an account, with AI already helping. At that pace, 20 accounts a week is about 3 to 7 hours before anyone types a word.
Bullpen does that work. What's left for you is reading a short email with its sources beside it, and deciding whether it goes.
Every line has a receipt
When Bullpen says something about a company, it is quoting a public web page word for word, most often that company's own website, with the link beside it. The Writer only gets facts that pass that check. The Editor then checks every claim in the email against those quotes before you see it.
- See the source. Every fact on a draft shows the sentence it came from and a link to the page.
- The check is plain code, not AI. If Bullpen can't find a quote word for word on the page it cites, the fact never reaches you. On our own campaigns so far, it has kept back 27 of 368 quotes (Oct 29).
- Checked again. In October we re-checked 40 of those facts, picked at random. All 37 we could check were still on their page, word for word. One site refused the re-read for the other 3.
Bullpen can still read a sentence the wrong way while quoting it correctly. That's why the link is there: check it before you send.
Built for fewer, careful emails
Volume is how our own mailbox got blocked. In October we researched Atlantic Canadian companies and wrote to each one, using AI to read their websites and draft. Then Microsoft restricted our mailbox for sending too much, too fast. So Bullpen is built the other way:
- One short email per company, with one real reason to write and one question.
- Only addresses a company publishes itself. Guessed addresses bounce, and bounces count against the inbox that sent them.
- A person reads every email before it goes. In the app, you send each one from your own inbox, at your own pace.
Bullpen's mailroom adds warm-up for new inboxes, daily caps, sending during each recipient's working hours, and health checks that pause sending when bounces climb or a mail server pushes back. It's built, and it's warming our own new inboxes now. It isn't in the app yet; this page will say when it is.
Only addresses they publish themselves
Bullpen writes only to an address a company prints on its own website, and keeps that page, with the date, as the receipt. It never guesses first.last@ and never uses an address-finding service. If a company's site asks for no unsolicited email, Bullpen won't use its address.
In Canada this matters. Our reading of CASL: a cold business email can go to an address the business published itself, as long as the page doesn't say it refuses such email and your message is about their work. That is our reading, not legal advice. In Canada and the US, every email also needs your real name, a mailing address and a way to opt out. Bullpen adds those lines to the foot of every draft with code, so the AI never writes them.
Knows who owns whom, and says what it doesn't know
Give Bullpen your list of accounts and it writes a rundown of each: the owner, the parent company, any private-equity firm and the sister companies, each from a quote. Add a list of your customers, and any account in a group with one of them goes to the top, marked Warm.
Size and revenue appear only where a company published them. Otherwise the rundown says "not published". It doesn't guess.
Rather write or call yourself? Take the research.
The same research comes without the email:
- Lead lists. Each company, why it fits (quoted, with the link), an address it publishes itself, and who to ask for. As a spreadsheet.
- Call sheets. The number printed on each company's own site, who to ask for, why to call now and one question to ask. Bullpen never dials: you make every call.
- Account rundowns. A page on each of your accounts, with import files for Salesforce, HubSpot and sequencers such as Outreach, Salesloft and Apollo.
- Check a list. Bring a list you bought or exported. Every row comes back green, amber or red, with the reason: the wrong kind of company, the wrong department, no longer on their own team page, or a Canadian address the company never published.
How it works
- Tell it what you sell. It reads your website, asks five short questions, and shows you the brief it made and what it changed.
- It finds companies that fit. For each one it reads their site, notes why they fit and who to ask for, and finds an address the company publishes. Every note links to the page it came from.
- It writes one short email per company. One real reason to write, one question. The Editor checks every claim against the quotes.
- You check the receipts and send. Read each draft with its sources beside it and change anything you like. Then copy it into your own email, with your name, mailing address and opt-out line already at the foot.
What it costs
Free to try: 9 credits, no card. That's three companies researched, each with a checked email. After that, plans start at $300 a month (CA$400 for Canadian businesses) for about 200 researched companies with a checked email: roughly 9 every weekday. Companies Bullpen looks at and drops cost nothing.
What it won't do
- Guess an email address, or get one from an address-finding service.
- Say something about a company it can't quote word for word from a page it read.
- Write to someone because they changed jobs, got promoted or were just hired.
- Send thousands of emails a day. If that's what you want, Bullpen isn't your tool.
- Send from app.autough.com, for now. You send each email yourself, from your own inbox.
- Dial a phone or automate LinkedIn. Call sheets list the number each company publishes; you make the call.
- Promise meetings. It does the finding, reading and writing. Whether they answer is still up to them. We're new, and we don't have customer results to show you yet.
Questions a careful buyer asks
How accurate is it, really?
Every fact is a word-for-word quote from the company's own page, with the link. Before anything is shown, a plain-code check (not AI) looks for the quote on the page it cites. On our own campaigns, our research has offered 368 quotes so far, and 27 never reached a draft:
- 7 were not on the page word for word.
- 20 were on pages Bullpen couldn't read or check, or were turned away for another reason.
In our October re-check of 40 facts picked at random, all 37 we could check were still on their page, word for word. One site refused the re-read for the other 3. Bullpen can still read a quote the wrong way, so read each email before you send it. If a fact in a checked email doesn't match its source, tell us and the credits for that email come back.
Will this get my email marked as spam?
Sending from app.autough.com is off, so you send from your own inbox, at your own pace. Bullpen helps where it can: one email per company, and only to addresses a company publishes itself, so there are no guessed addresses to bounce. Volume is what got our own mailbox restricted in October. Bullpen's mailroom (warm-up, daily caps, health checks) is built and warming our own new inboxes now. It isn't in the app yet.
Is it legal under CASL and CAN-SPAM?
You're the sender, so the choice to send is yours. Bullpen writes only to addresses a business publishes on its own site, keeps that page as the receipt, and won't use an address on a site that asks for no unsolicited email. Every draft carries your name, your business's mailing address and an opt-out line, added by code. When someone asks you to stop, Bullpen keeps them on your do-not-contact list. This is our reading of the law, not legal advice.
Do I approve every email?
Yes. On app.autough.com Bullpen can't send at all: every email waits for you to read it and send it yourself. In the full Bullpen we run ourselves, nothing leaves the mailroom unless a person approved it, and autopilot is off.
What does it cost?
Free to try: 9 credits, no card, which is three companies researched, each with a checked email. Starter is $300 a month for about 200. Team is $1,000 a month for about 660. Enterprise starts at $5,000 a month, billed yearly. Canadian businesses pay in Canadian dollars. See Pricing.
Does it work with Gmail and Outlook?
Yes. Each draft has a Copy email button that takes the subject, the email and your footer. Paste it into Gmail, Outlook or whatever you send from. Bullpen doesn't connect to your inbox and never sends as you.
Does it connect to my CRM?
Not on app.autough.com yet. Lead lists download as spreadsheets, and account rundowns come with import files for Salesforce, HubSpot and sequencers such as Outreach, Salesloft and Apollo. We've built a live HubSpot and Salesforce connection that keeps Bullpen off your customers and open deals, and tested it on our own trial accounts. It isn't in the app yet.
Where does my data live?
On an encrypted disk in Fly.io's Toronto data centre. To research and write, Bullpen sends text to Anthropic's AI model in the US: public facts about the companies you look at, and what you've told Bullpen about your business. Anthropic's commercial terms say it doesn't train its models on what we send through its API. Neither do we. No ads, no tracking, and we never sell your data.
Do you have SOC 2 or single sign-on?
Not yet. If your security review needs them, tell us before you buy.
Can more than one person use an account?
Not yet: one login per account for now.
How do I cancel?
Write to business@autough.com. We stop the next payment, and you keep your plan to the end of the period you paid for. We don't refund part months. You can download your lists and drafts, and delete your account from the Account page, at any time.
